Arthur Rackham

Arthur Rackham (1867-1939) was a prolific English illustrator at the end of the Victorian era and into the early modern age.  Edmund Dulac (1882-1953) was a French artist who illustrated fairy tales in the early part of the twentieth century.  Here are several of their illustrations of The Nixie in the Pond and The Little Mermaid.  Note Dulac's Orientalist visual interpretation.  This was a popular form of illustration in the Art Nouveau movement.
